DMX's Multiple Arrests End With Jail Time
DMX's multiple run-ins with the law will finally come to an end, but this is probably not the solution the troubled emcee was hoping for. During a brief hearing in a Miami courtroom Judge Lawrence Schwartz sentenced X, who had both his wrists and legs cuffed, to at least one more month of jail time. After Schwartz informed him his bond was denied, the rapper walked away saying, "Fuck all that," prompting further comments from the Florida judge. Miami-Dade County statutes prohibit suspects with felony fugitive warrants from being offered bond.
Aside from his recent appearance on The Game's LAX [click to read], the 37-year-old DMX (aka Earl Simmons) has made more of an impact on the police blotter than the pop charts. In addition to the four counts of possessing drug paraphernalia, one count of marijuana possession and driving without a valid license in the Miami area alone, DMX has been arrested at least four other times within the last three months. DMX's other recent charges include alleged animal cruelty, failure to appear in court and suspicion of using a false identity to defraud a hospital.
At best, DMX will remain jailed until October 2, after which he will either face charges for his June arrest in Miami or be extradited to Arizona. If he is convicted for each arrest, the worst case scenario would have X in prison for up to five years for his multiple arrests.
