Chinese-American rapper Jin, well known for his 106 & Park rise to fame and moderately successful independent career is finally making his debut in Hong Kong with his album ABC, an acronym for American-born Chinese.

The 26-year-old was able to garner the interest of Universal Music Group Hong Kong with his enthusiasm and from there Jin went on to release ABC in Hong Kong on August 7.

“Universal is not a small mom-and-pop store … And for them to say, ‘we believe in Jin, we believe in this album, we want to support it, throw money into it.’ That right there to me is almost like…I haven’t won the war but that’s one battle won already,” Jin told the Associated Press.

Although ABC was already released in the United States early last year, Jin sees his Hong Kong debut as a kind of evolution.

“You get older. Your thought process changes. Your views on what’s important to you changes. And the way I almost look at my career now is, I’m rolling with the punches as well as just maximizing on whatever opportunities are in front of me,”Jin told the Associated Press.

Recorded completely in Cantonese, fans of Jin can expect to hear songs about everything from dim sum to Hong Kong’s history on ABC.
