After a recent visit to Midstate Correctional Facility in upstate New York to visit collaborator and friend Prodigy of Mobb Deep, Hip Hop producer The Alchemist recapped his visit for readers on his blog www.alchemistbeats.blogspot.com.

Accompanied by Prodigy's wife, KiKi Johnson and aided by a couple of strong doses of Starbucks, Alchemist set off at 6 a.m. on his four hour journey to Midstate.

In his blog, Alchemist goes into great detail, describing everything from the four hour ride through upstate New York to the misleading "George Washington old school" style exterior of the correctional facility.

The blog starts off on a grim although realistic note, "Jail is foul. Everything about it is designed to break your spirit. I mean from the stink smells, to that ' frying electric chair' sound that the doors make when they open and close, to those funky looks on the CO's faces…even little shit like the colors they use to paint the walls. Foulness."

While on his visit, Alchemist and Prodigy discussed a number of things including Alchemist's production on the Lil Wayne Tha Carter III [click to read] album, Prodigy's autobiography, and Prodigy's latest album H.N.I.C. Part 2 [click to read].

According to Alchemist, Prodigy still has another year to go and has already been locked up for six months now.

In 2007, the duo released Return of the Mac [click to read].
