B.G. Talks New Album, Hot Boys Reunion
After more than a decade in the rap game, former Cash Money Millionaire B.G. is prepping his eleventh studio album, Too Hood to be Hollywood for a November 25 release on Atlantic Records.
Too Hood will mark the first major label release for the New Orleans rapper since 2000’s Checkmate.
“I got TI, [Young] Jeezy and [Lil] Wayne on the album,” B.G. told HipHopDX exclusively. “It’s what the streets expect from Gizzle.”
The pairing with Atlantic Records came about through a chance conversation with label mate T.I., who called to congratulate the fellow southerner after hearing a rumor that B.G. signed to G-Unit.
“I was shopping a deal and Tip heard that I had something with Interscope. He called to congratulate me and I told him it wasn’t official. He asked what it would take to get me over to Atlantic,” B.G. says of how the deal came together. “Tip made a few phone calls and made it happen. I’m a fan of T.I., T.I. is a fan of B.G., he respects me and what I’ve done and what I’ve accomplished. I’m rocking with him 150.”
For fans of the old Cash Money sound, B.G. says the Hot Boys reunion is still in the works, as Lil Wayne and Juvenile appear on Too Hood’s first single.
The fourth member of the group, Turk will also be involved in the reunion.
“Turk will be home in a minute. I talk to him about five times a week. Once a Hot Boy, always a Hot Boy. We were Hot Boys, now we’re Hot Men.”
