HHDX News Bits (Bill Cosby Vs Terrance Howard & Pepsi DJs)

July 16th, 2008 | Author: ------

What if we told you that Hustle and Flow and Crash never should’ve happened—at least without Terrance Howard’s participation? The actor now says his critically acclaimed career was nearly derailed before the train left the station by Bill Cosby.

At 19, Howard landed a role on The Cosby Show—just his second audition in New York, but was eventually cut from the show.

"I was 19 and had just moved to New York from Cleveland, I got on 'The Cosby Show' on my second audition ever," Howard told WENN.

After being cut, Howard confronted Cosby about the situation.

"I told him, 'I'm a man just like you.' He didn't like it, and the casting agent never took my calls again."

Howard says the incident led to a four year hiatus.

Bill Cosby has not commented on the allegations.

During the month of August, Pepsi will hold their first ever "Month In The Mix."

As part of "Month In The Mix" Pepsi will pay tribute to the DJ with events in different cities across the country such as Atlanta, Los Angeles, Detroit, and Miami and as promotion for "Month In The Mix" Pepsi has chosen several DJ's to serve as members of the Pepsi DJ division including DJ Drama, DJ Enuff, DJ Irie, and others.

"DJs are respected trendsetters who have an undeniable influence on hip-hop culture," said Frank Cooper, VP of portfolio brands, Pepsi-Cola North America in a statement. "'Month in the Mix' is a natural extension of the Pepsi DJ Division and we look forward to celebrating the DJ and showcasing their impact on music."
