During the past year, many have asked where Mr. Mississippi has been [click to read]. Well, David Banner has been working. The rapper turned actor has a couple of high-profile movies on the way and he’s got a new album to promote. With all of this coming up soon, he’s got his eyes on the release of his first project in line, his new album The Greatest Story Ever Told.  

For his latest single, “Shawty Say,” which features a samples Lil Wayne line for its chorus, Banner takes time to speak for the ladies.

“The concept of the video ‘Shawty Say’ is really about the things women say about men that a lot of times we don’t pay attention to. As a brother, I just wanna articulate what the ladies are saying to me in a way that men could actually embrace it. So what we going around doing is seeing the men who ain’t treating their women right and we’re pulling them aside and interrogating them. ‘This is what your woman is saying. You need to go home before somebody scoop her.’ “

Lil Wayne, who appears twice on the album, is featured along with a variety of artists. Other featured guests that are set to appear on the album include Snoop Dogg, Chris Brown, Jim Jones, Chamillionaire, Carl Thomas and Young Joc. The album is set to hit stores Tuesday.

On the movie side of his career, Banner is scheduled to star alongside Ice Cube and Keke Palmer in The Longshots, a film directed by Limp Bizkit‘s Fred Durst. The film is based on a true story and serves as an inspirational tale of a young female quarterback.

Banner is also set to appear alongside Taye Diggs, Wilmer Valderama, Laurence Fishbourne and Faizon Love in Days of Wrath.

Both films have wrapped up and should be out before the year’s end.
