Documentary Sued For $5 Million
William Troy McCune, a rapper in New York during the late 80's and early 90's, is suing the producers of Notorious B.I.G.: Bigger Than Life.
The lawsuit, which calls for a sum of $5 million, alleges that the producers of the 2007 documentary included footage of McCune battling B.I.G. without his consent.
“This segment of the Plaintiff (McCune) and Christopher Wallace is shown throughout the video and is a dominant feature in the extras portion,” says the suit. “The use of the photograph, image, and likeness of the Plaintiff, in the video by the Defendants, jointly and severally, and acting in active concert was unauthorized.”
Defendants named in the lawsuit included director Peter Spirer, co-producer Dream Hampton and Aslan Productions.
The documentary, which was released last August, featured Sticky Fingaz, Method Man, Common, Easy Mo Bee and more, and was noted for exposing details of the confrontation between E-40 and B.I.G. over a quote.
