Class Action Lawsuit Filed Against Jay-Z's 40/40 Club
The suit was originated by Celeste Williams, a former waitress who claims the popular sports bar paid less than minimum wage and gave no additional money for overtime hours.
"This is a good day for restaurant workers all over the city," said her lawyer, Maimon Kirschenbaum, to the Post. According to Kirschenbaum, the next step is to now contact the hundreds of other club workers and encourage them to join the suit.
About 20 past and present 40/40 bartenders, waiters and other workers are already on board.
Kirschenbaum is unsure of how much money the mistreated workers are entitled to because he hasn't been able to access 40/40's complete financial records.
Neither Jay-Z nor the 40/40 spokesman have commented on the situation.
