Marley Marl Speaks On Juice Crew Movie & Tour
"Theyre still on the funding tip right now," Marley Marl tells HipHopDX. "As soon as we get all of that together we should be doing some dates. The funny thing about it is, now that the word is out, other production companies are starting to get in touch with me in regards to that too. Its still moving forward though."
Earlier this week, Marley's close personal friend KRS-One told SOHH.com the project "basically collapsed." It would appear that despite squashing their Bronx versus Queensbridge beef decades ago, the two friends and Hip Hop legends don't have quite the same understanding about the status of The Vapors. In addition to shooting down reports of the movie's collapse and its cast being chosen already, Marley and Craig G say they are taking steps toward reuniting the entire Juice Crew to recreate the chemistry many fans enjoyed during the A3C Festival.
"Maybe it was the timing and we didnt get the feedback before, but the vibe was just real appreciative this time around," says Craig G. "Marley is really hard at work trying to turn this into a tour and Im just waiting. We all have to be on the same page. As we all get older, were starting to lean towards being on that same page. Hopefully, it will go down. Its not out of the question, its just a matter of everybody getting together, agreeing on what they want and knowing theyre roles."
There is currently no set date for the release of The Vapors or a Juice Crew tour. Operation Take Back Hip Hop, a full-album collaborative effort between Craig G and Marley Marl, is in stores now.
