The Likwit Crew has been a legendary union of emcees on a number of projects. With The Alkaholiks, King Tee, Defari, Lootpack and Phil Da Agony being affiliates, Xzibit's stardom and Madlib's mainstream production rose from feature appearances on numerous albums, stemming from The Liks' first three releases.

In 2006, Defari and Dilated Peoples and Beat Junkies' deejay Babu [click to read] released The L.J.'s, short for Likwit Junkies, which was the closest many fans got to actualizing such a release.

With all members on independent labels in unison for the first time, Xzibit recently spoke to DubCNN.com about the likelihood of a Likwit Crew album surfacing. "If [King Tee] puts it together, I'm willing to listen. I'm willing to sit down and listen. But I've been let down so much when it comes to this group shit... I don't want to say, 'No, never,' but it's gonna take a lot of convincing," said the platinum rapper-turned-actor. Xzibit also admitted that he isn't drinking as much as he used to, the trait that brought the loose-knit crew of lyricists and producers together in the first place.

Although it may take effort to bring the X-to-the-Z back with his '90s affiliates, the rapper did say that he is most moved by emcees of the era, citing Public Enemy, Showbiz & A.G. and Masta Ace [click to read] as leading influences in his day-to-day listening lately.
