Xzibit Discusses The Future Of Likwit Crew
In 2006, Defari and Dilated Peoples and Beat Junkies' deejay Babu [click to read] released The L.J.'s, short for Likwit Junkies, which was the closest many fans got to actualizing such a release.
With all members on independent labels in unison for the first time, Xzibit recently spoke to DubCNN.com about the likelihood of a Likwit Crew album surfacing. "If [King Tee] puts it together, I'm willing to listen. I'm willing to sit down and listen. But I've been let down so much when it comes to this group shit... I don't want to say, 'No, never,' but it's gonna take a lot of convincing," said the platinum rapper-turned-actor. Xzibit also admitted that he isn't drinking as much as he used to, the trait that brought the loose-knit crew of lyricists and producers together in the first place.
Although it may take effort to bring the X-to-the-Z back with his '90s affiliates, the rapper did say that he is most moved by emcees of the era, citing Public Enemy, Showbiz & A.G. and Masta Ace [click to read] as leading influences in his day-to-day listening lately.
