KRS-One Helps Out The Brooklyn
Public Library
Yesterday (June 5), KRS-One [click to read] upheld his title as "Teacha" when he appeared at The Brooklyn Public Library's Central branch to explain the importance of education to youth through a Hip Hop perspective.
In late morning, The Bronx emcee and icon told his story the interested parties of all ages, with an emphasis on children. KRS' story includes using the New York library system to educate himself while the emcee battled homelessness as a teenager. Perhaps through this time, KRS-One learned some of the principles taught in his seminal hits with Boogie Down Productions, including "Poetry," "My Philosophy" and a piece he reportedly performed for audiences at the library, "You Must Learn."
The event kicked off The Brooklyn Public Library's Summer Reading Program.
Earlier this year, KRS-One released Adventures In Emceein. Later this year, he plans to release a collaborative album with Buckshot [click to read], his first on Duck Down Records.
