Fox Analyst Apologizes For Obama Assassaination "Joke"
On Sunday, Liz Trotta appeared on Fox and was asked about the controversy over Sen. Hillary Clinton mentioning the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy in an interview with a South Dakota newspaper when answering a question about why the former first lady.
"Now we have what some are reading as a suggestion that somebody knock off Osama, uh Obama, Trotta replied, before following up with, Well, both, if we could."
The footage became widely available on YouTube and was a hotly discussed topic on blogs around the Internet.
Trotta issued an apology the day after the incident, saying she meant no offense.
"I am so sorry about what happened yesterday and the lame attempt at humor. I fell all over myself, making it appear that I wished Barack Obama harm or any other candidate, for that matter, and I sincerely regret it and apologize to anybody I have offended. It is a very colorful political season, and many of us are making mistakes and saying things we wish we had not said."
The final Democratic primaries are scheduled for next Tuesday in Montana and South Dakota .
