Kanye West Blasts Entertainment Weekly, Apologizes
The EW review [click to read] grades the tour a B+, and has sentences such as, Okay, so [Kanye is] a nut. Still, Wests commitment to communicating inner passions and identity crisis is so consuming it nearly redeems any conceptual hokeyness. The article gives equally seesawing opinions on the other artists: Lupes great catalog is diminished by his rapping over studio tracks, while Pharrell (who performs with his band N.E.R.D.) is a great party starter but a subpar singer. And despite Rihanna performing her set smoothly and being a welcome change-up from the otherwise male-dominated line-up, according to the EW review, her performance of Umbrella disappointed.
In a May 2 entry named Entertainment Weeklys not invited! [click to read] Kanye dissed the magazines reviewer, staff, and the rating of Graduation, which is a B- on the mags web site.
What's a B+ mean? I'm an extremist. It's either pass or fail! A+ or F-! he wrote. I just wanna know when was the last time you enjoyed yourself. If you can't have fun and lose yourself at this tour it's a good chance you're a very miserable person. You don't know shit about passion and art.
Yesterday, however, he apologized for some of his words. In an entry entitled Houston I Love You! [click to read], Kanye spoke about technical difficulties during the Houston date on the tour, and proceeded to revisit the EW ordeal.
I did go in a little 2 much on that one, he typed. Im sure there are some cool people who work over there and had nothing 2 do with that review.
