VL Mike, formerly a member of B.G.'s the Chopper City Boyz, was shot and killed on Sunday (April 20) in New Orleans.

According to The Times-Picayune, the rapper was shot when he was exiting his vehicle around 1 p.m., when an unidentified person approached and opened fire.

VL Mike, real name Michael Allen, was rushed to University Hospital, where he died shortly after arriving. The gunman escaped on foot.

The seventh murder in New Orleans in a period of just four days, VL Mike was 32 years old.

Fans visited the rapper's Myspace page, which now reads "R.I.P. VL Mike" in the header. The latest comment on the page read, "I can't believe it. We was just on the phone talking about me and my girl coming back to Atlanta to visit you. I am going to miss you. You where so loved by many and will be missed by many."
