J-Zone Lands Music In Dodge Commercial

Although T.I. may no longer be working with General Motors [click to read...], a plethora of other independent Hip Hop artists have found endorsements with major automakers through licensing commercial music. RJD2's music appeared with Saturn campaigns, in addition to investment and other company ads. Slum Village appeared alongside Chevrolet several years ago. This morning, it was announced that Queens, New York producer and emcee J-Zone had his "Edit These" appear in an SUV commercial by Dodge, presently airing on BET.

The song appeared on Zone's 2004 Fat Beats release A Job Ain't Nuthin' But Work, and like many of the artist's songs, was inspired by work of groundbreaking emcees like Too Short and others. "It's a good look but it's probably bugged to hear that beat without me cursing all over it, I think they should've left my x-rated chorus in there so they could sell some more cars! I don't buy American cars, but you should definitely get you a Journey 'cause they use my sound to sell 'em," said Zone in a statement to his fans this morning. The song's maker confirms that it was officially cleared, and may be airing during the NBA Playoffs.
