Fans of golden era Hip Hop will be pleased to know that Wild Pitch Records, the former starting point for careers such as Gang Starr, Main Source, The Coup and others, will see its highly collectible CD catalogue re-released for the second time in a decade.
“I’m thrilled that these records will be back in the marketplace. It’ll
be fun to see these on the shelves again. I’m very proud that Wild
Pitch is part of Hip Hop’s history,” label founder Stu Fine told HipHopDX Wednesday morning. As reported by blogs such as CocaineBlunts.com, the catalogue, which dates back to 1989, was listed on Amazon.com with pre-orders for $11.98.
In the mid ’90s, Wild Pitch was acquired by Jcor Records, and distributed by EMI. In the early ’00s, shortly before closing their own doors, Jcor released much of the catalogue, including Wild Pitch Classics, a compilation spanning the label’s highest points, including the first ever released appearances by artists such as Nas (Main Source‘s “Live At The BBQ”) and Method Man (N-Tyce‘s “Hush, Hush Tip.”) The L.O.X., minus Styles P, also appeared on Main Source‘s second album, which is also being re-released.

There will be 13 albums re-released in total, all on April 22, with The Coup‘s Genocide & Juice reportedly dropping next month. Fine would not confirm if these re-releases will feature exclusive material or remixes, previously only made available for vinyl.
