Though it has been nearly two years since Eminem last hit the stage, hes chosen to perform at Nelson Mandelas birthday on June 27th.

The birthday celebration takes place in Londons Hyde Park, where an expected capacity crowd of 45,000 will witness the event to support Mandelas AIDS charity 46664. This music charity event was created to help aid Mandelas cause to raise money and awareness of the growing problem concerning the HIV virus.

According to the Sun (magazine in London), a publicist of the event had contacted Eminems people about the event in hopes of signing him on the bill. We wanted some of the greatest artists from recent times and Eminem was on the list. I contacted Eminems management on the off-chance and never expected him to go for it. Brian was ecstatic, stating, Its going to be explosive stuff and its certainly a big stage to make his comeback.

Rapper/Actor Will Smith will host the event with his wife Jada-Pinkett Smith. Other acts to perform include Stevie Wonder, Annie Lennox and Razorlight. U2, The Spice Girls and Paul McCartney have also been asked to perform.
