Joe Scudda of Hall of Justus (Little Brother, 9th Wonder, The Away Team) fame, recently spoke to HipHopDX.com about his history and recent remarks about his partner-in-rhyme Phonte.

Joe speaking on Prodigys remarks [click to read]: Ehh, Im not going to say too much. I mean whatever that is, I dont really get into all that. This whole beef thing is out of control in hip hop period. We dont really pay too much attention to all that. That probably isnt what you're looking for, but that beef doesnt have anything to do with Joe Scudda, so I dont concentrate on that.

On being a white emcee: Well, to me, people use that as a cop out, for the fact that theyre wack and no one wants to give them a shot. Come on, man, its not because youre white, its because you suck. Listen, people arent going to turn away from dope music, I mean I dont really think about it ever, it has never been an issue for me. I dont understand that. I dont pay attention to it, and the only way something can affect you is if you let it affect you. I mean if you think about it and dwell on it its going to affect you, if you dont give a fuck it doesnt really matter. I could give a fuck, I mean people know me, Im whatever, you like it or you dont like it, Im going to do me regardless.

On the influence on hip-hop by the Blues: Its had a great influence, a lot of music form the south is soulful and heartfelt because a lot of times people from the south havent grown up with too much. You can just hear the pain in a lot of music that comes from the south, thats a lot where blues comes from. Also, just stories and stuff like that, its definitely an influence on our music, I grew up listening to all that.

Joe on his relationship with famed producer 9th Wonder: Well, 9th is like my big brother so everything that I do he has some kind of influence. If it werent for him, I probably wouldnt be doing this music stuff, hes the one that really got me into doing it real tough. I mean regardless of music, thats my homie we talk about whatever, I mean hes got a big influence on what I do. I didnt know what a 16 was or a hook was so he helped me. But our whole team help each other out because were all good, everybody gives their real opinion on the songs. If they like it theyll tell you, if they dont theyll tell you that, too.

Be sure to watch out for Joe Scuddas solo album, Open for Business, to drop soon. Also, look out for Phonte in Playaz Circles new video. If you happen to be in the state of Georgia, hit up Joes show March 27th in Athens.
