Fabolous Talks New Concept Album, Britney Collab
The paint hasn't even dried on his last album or his latest mixtape [click here to listen...], but Fabolous is ready to embark on a new project. With a theme behind his next album, some plans to release a film-inspired joint, and some Jay-Z inspiration, Fab is ready to hit the booth.
"I usually go around and just get with producers I feel I wanted to work with. This time I'm going off a theme," he told MTV. "I'ma put a theme together and just go off of that theme. Sometimes producers get lost trying to figure out what they think is the best type of shit for Fab. [They say,] 'I got this commercial joint for you.' So what I'm doing now, I seen a movie I want to theme the album after. Even take certain lines, different scenes out of the movie and make music behind that. At the same time, I can have the producer check the movie out, and he'll have something he can take away from the movie and come back with some joints. I wanted to try that this time."
"What Jay-Z did [with American Gangster], he took that Frank Lucas character and put it in the frame of his Jay character. That's what I wanna do. I don't wanna say I that I'm actually the character, but take some of his scenarios or some things I went through and tell it in my tone."
DJ Toomp, Kanye West, Just Blaze and Polow Da Don are only a few of the producers Fab wants to take part in the album.
"I think it will make me a little faster for some reason... When I just go in with producer and just make music, I'm really going in. I don't know what they are gonna play me. I don't know what I'm gonna get off the beat. It's pretty much whatever comes up. But this time I watched the movie myself, wrote some things that stuck out in my head and tried to make songs off that. This time it should be easier. Well, not easier, but faster."
In between-time, Fab is also collaborating with many singers, including Britney Spears and Ne-Yo. "I didn't get to kick it with [Britney], but the people from her record label was on top of that...I don't know what condition Britney is in right now. Hopefully — more power to her — she'll get in a better space and position. Somebody needs to sit her down, let her know what the deal is," he said of the Pop paparazzi queen.
He also added that working with Ne-Yo gave him another Jay-Z inspired theme.
"I been telling him we need to do the Best of Both Worlds for young, fly niggas. I don't think [a clash of the egos] would happen with us. [We're] two good, humble brothers. If we make some great music, people would love it and the demographic we would hit ... It would be great for us too. I think we can pull off a Best of Both Worlds."
No word yet as to what movie his album will be based on or when the LP is set to be released. HipHopDX will keep you posted.

I like that "Diamonds On My Damn Chain" and all the last singles on that Fab album. Only thing I think is missing from Fab is conceptual songs on his overall albums to date except for a very minor few. When he does fill his album with commercial songs, sometimes they seem to be scattered over everywhere. Hopefully he doesn't ever again put out two mellow singles back to back again. When duke first came out he had a gangsta single, a smooth single, and some other stuff. He fell off a bit single wise with the Baby track, because that was album material or a potential fourth single. The Breathe track he grew. Last album's singles reminded me of when Fab first came on the scene, and the Swizzy track sampled off the Wu's CREAM was really dope! Fab naturally has all the commercial hits in the making no-hitmaking artists would envy. Only thing Fab should learn from Jay is to be well-rounded with concepts and his commercial tracks, but to balance them out a bit. Then when Fab gives us a concept single like a Breathe, the album will be a classic no doubt. He can't go back in time and give us the same tracks, but he sure can keep putting out classic songs and hopefully a classic album. Him, Weezy, Kanye, Jeezy, Flip, and Twista been getting hot putting out consistent albums and singles. We need more conceptual songs on albums and to hear them commercial tracks we love. I think peeps that want the artists to fall off would say stop recording commerical music. Fans always loved it, but some male fans hate on a nigga. Fab's too humble to pick a fight, but he will sure finish it. P.B.U.Y.

JOJO DIN3RO(DA REAL 1):
imma a big fab fan and its clear to me that he doesn't care about the art. He doesn't want to go down as one of the best to ever do it. He jus wanna ryde the commercial wave depending on what it is at that time, collect his money and slide out the back door.lol. I mean i know dude can take over this rap shit like BIG and Jay did but he is jus comfortable in being the nigga that can spit and is made talented but makes sub par commercial boo boo albums. He also gonna be remembered as jocking jay's ideas. I mean damn whats next you gonna make an album with U2.LOL. or whatever white group jay made his album over with. Fabs really dissappointing me. Raise the bar man you all BROOKLYN GOT RIGHT NOW. He jus needs to make music he likes and stop tryna follow some formula or trend. Bring it back to your roots you from NY. Who cares about sales you will do your numbers anyway cus you been out for a minute and you have a solid fan base. Stop with the diamonds on my damn chain and the let's get T-pain on a hook, and the the let me slow my flow down like JEEZY'S OR THE LET ME REPEAT MY RHYMES LIKE WEZZY SHIT. Do what Jay does he makes niggas adjust to him, not the other way around.By the way nigga the Gangsta Grillz mixtape was on point can't front. Fab and 50 have the same disease. Its called dope ass mixtape garbage ass album disease anybody heard of it?
Wayne Jr :
FAB IS A GOOD RAPPER
goodyGONG:
theres way too much copying going on. like okay fab you want to do something different, props for that...but don't do a concept album because jay did one. shit raise the bar. stop doing what everyone else is doing. stop copying off of formula's that worked in the past. you wanna do a best of both worlds? wow how much dick riding do todays artist do of jay-z? extremely lame.
J-Lynn:
Are you fucking kidding me? Please tell me this is a joke ... Fab working with Brittany Whores I mean Spears? GTFOH!!!
I lost all respect for you Fab (not like you had much anyways)!
Latin King:
FAB IS A LYRICAL BEAST. BESIDES JIGGA, AINT NOBODY FUCKIN WIT FAB. YA NIGGAS ACT LIKE JIGGA IS THE 1ST RAPPER 2 DO A CONCEPT ALBUM. SO MANY RAPPERS HAVE DUN CONCEPT ALBUMS, AND HAVE ALSO DUN COLLABS WIT R&B SINGERS. FAB JUS WANTS 2 DO IT. GOOD LUCK 2 HIM. I MITE COP BOTH THOSE ALBUM IF THEY COME OUT. IN MY OPINION, FAB IS TOP 10. IIGHT IM READY 4 NIGGAZ 2 START ATACKIN ME N SAYIN IM TALKIN RECKLESS...
The Future'86:
U guys r all right on this blog....Fab is killin me I mean he hasnt dropped a complete album since Street Dreams....the problem with Fab is we dont know what we are gonna get out of him....r we gonna get the commerical fab or the hardcore fab.....so the concept album might be a good idea however it could blow right n his face if it at all sounds like Jay....I mean hes taking a huge risk cause it really sounds like hes biting Jay's style....now the Best of Both Worlds would be a great idea cause hes right Neyo&Fab r two humble dudes and Neyo is a great songwriter and the 1thing that hurt Jay&Kellz 1st album was it wasnt commercially promoted due 2 Kellz is legal problems well have 2c!!!!!
T.L.A.M.:
Fab is dope the concept album could actully be a way for Fab to show his true potential because he is a dope mc but he does flood his albums with to much comercial stuff but the songs that aint are usually dope lyrically.
smokeone23434:
YO DUDE NEED TO STOP RAPPING HES NOT HOT- THE NIGGA BUT ONE GOOD SINGLE OUT AND THEN THE ALBUM BE DOO! DOO!AS FAR AS HIM DOING A SONG WIT SOMEBODY HE HAVE TO GO POP AND HOPE HE CAN SELL TO MORE WHITE KIDS CAUSE NIGGAS IN THE HOOD NOT TRYING TO HEAR ONE HOT SONG THATS FOR A BITCH
google:
Fab refuses to come up with original ideas, essentially what he is saying is , he needs a great gimmick to connect with the masses. he's desperate to get on the radio, doing an album with Neyo would get him there,it wouldnt validate him. (Fab) he will always be a Jay-z ,Mase clone.
F-a-b-u-l-o-u-s:
Normally i wouldnt buy either Ne_Yo or Fabs albums, but if they did a best of both worlds, that would be f*ckin sicc!!!
I would cop that...
ajthrowback:
Honestly, as much as it could be said that this is a bite off of Jay-Z's AMERICAN GANGSTER and how it was inspired by the movie, Fabolous needs a theme so that he can actually have a platform for making a really good album and actually say something worthwhile. Honestly, the only album that I really fooled with by him was his first joint. As far as the idea of doing a "best of both worlds" with him and Ne-Yo, that wouldn't necessarily be a bad look. Maybe getting down with a great writer like Ne-Yo might also help him to focus a lot more as well, although I'd probably be more interested in the album inspired by the movie. We shall see, Mr. F-A-B-O...
boygenuis:
Cats gotta stop bitting off Jay & Kelly's "Best of Both Worlds" concept on come up with something different. The reason that shit was hot in the first place is because it never happen before. Loso & Young Quincy are both solid artist, so I'll cop whateva their droppin.

WILLROD29:
NE-YO FAB ALBUM WOULD BE SICK!!!
ENOUGH SAID:
Thats good for what he doing, its a 50/50 chance britney will or won't be on the album
Sun Kizzay:
It's not the first time and won't be the last that rappers use movie themes as the basis of their albums. Fab won't get a nod for originality on this one, but I don't give a fuck as long as good music comes out, so do your thing 'Loso. The best of both worlds thing is pushing it tho. As for Britney that chick's finished, any mention of her name is for clowning purposes. If a check gets cut tho it's all good.
Dzy:
"Somebody needs to sit her down, let her know what the deal is"
HAHAHAHAHA
ItsMe:
Britney won't be on the album...it was just a remix.
Tragedyy:
hope its not on the album
