Obama Shoots Down "Dream Ticket" With Clinton

With the race for the Democratic presidential nomination heating up, Barack Obama shot down any hope of a dream ticket, featuring himself as Hillary Clintons Vice President.

Last week, Sen. Clinton suggested that shed be interested in running with Obamawith her on top of the ticketand former President Bill Clinton told a Mississippi audience that a Clinton/Obama ticket would be unstoppable.

Obama, who currently leads the delegate and popular vote count, is having none of that.

With all due respect, I won twice as many states as Sen. Clinton. Ive won more of the popular vote than Sen. Clinton I have more delegates than Sen. Clinton. I dont know how somebody whos in second place, is offering the vice presidency to somebody whos in first place, he said yesterday, one day before the Mississippi primary.

The Illinois senator, whos been accused of not having enough fight in him didnt stop there.

I was trying to explain to somebody a while back, the okey dokewhen somebody is trying to bamboozle you. When theyre trying to hoodwink you. They are trying to hoodwink you. You cant say hes not ready on day one unless hes willing to be your vice president, then hes ready on day one.

Obama credited Clinton for running a hard campaign, but reiterated that he was not running for Vice President of the United States.

For those hoping for an Obama/Clinton ticket in November, dont count on that either.

I dont want anybody here thinking that somehow maybe I can get both, dont think that way, you have to make a choice this election. Are you going to go along with the past or are you going to go towards the future?...I do not believe Sen. Clinton is about change, because in fact, this kind of gamesmanshiptalking about me as Vice President, but maybe hes not ready to be Commander-in-Chiefthats exactly the kind of double speak, double talk that Washington is very good at, that people who spend a long of time in Washington have a lot of experience at, but is not going to solve the problems of the country, he said to applause.

The contest between Obama and Clinton is not expected to be decided until this summers Democratic national convention in Denver.
