Grammy award winning singer Amy Winehouse has officially been diagnosed with a skin disease known as impetigo.

Confirmed by Winehouse’s spokesman, the sickness is a bacterial skin infection that causes pimple-like lumps. It is also highly contagious and slight scratching or touching of the sores increases the chance of it spreading throughout the body and people encountered.

According to People, the singer has been taking prescribed drugs. Despite the medication, the effects of the disease have recently been showing up in the form of bumps on Winehouse’s face.

People also claim that a friend of Winehouse says the singer is handling the disease with ease.

“She’s fine. She’s not hiding away. She’s never been one to care what people think,” the source told People.

Aside from her personal life, the 24-year-old singer’s Back to Black is certified platinum and she led the 2008 Grammy’s with six nominations and five wins. Her awards crowned her the first British singer to win five Grammys and tied the record for the most wins by a female artist in a single night.
