Flo-Rida Comments On Breaking Digital Sales Record

01.16.08   |   by Omar Burgess
In sync with a trend previously witnessed in the developments of Soulja Boy and Hurricane Chris, Atlantic Records' rapper Flo-Rida is witnessing big success - without an album for months. Although Mail On Sunday is last said to be releasing next month  - after initial March grumblings, "Low" featuring T-Pain continues to climb the charts for radio spins and digital downloads.

The song, which is marketed to Pop and Urban radio had reached so much popularity that it exceeded 470,000 downloads in one week recently. Flo-Rida told HipHopDX what it meant to him in his young career. "Atlantic Records hit me up and let me know what was going on. We always get different e-mails, and at first I didn’t know because I’m always in the studio."

After years of working under the tutelage of 2 Live Crew's Fresh Kid Ice and Jodeci's DeVante, the payoff is meaningful to Flo-Rida. "To go from struggling, grinding and working hard and then see this really happen…it’s like they say, 'What you put in is what you get out.' I feel like all this success I’m getting right now is for all the hard work I put in. Thanks to the man above for giving me my health and strength also." A follow-up single to "Low" is expected soon.
