Beanie Sigel Sentenced To Halfway House

January 9th, 2008 | Author: Allen Jacobs

Earlier today (January 9) Philadelphia veteran rapper Beanie Sigel was sentenced to one day in jail and six months in an undisclosed halfway house for parole violations. The Roc-A-Fella star left the state without permission to go to Atlantic New Jersey, as well as made contact with a known felon, leading R. Barclay Surrick to send the rapper 18 months after his release.

These actions come on the heels of Sigel doing local public service announcements against violence, as well as rallying in Philadelphia area high schools along with Bill Cosby and Freeway.

The sentence will likely hinder promotion and touring of The Solution, Sigel's 2007 album that had moved over 50,000 units to date. Rumors had swirled that the rapper was contemplating touring the album along with local brethren The Roots, something that likely will no longer be feasible.

Sigel's spokespeople have yet to release a statement from the rapper or details on when the sentence will begin. HipHopDX will keep you updated.
