Comedian Bill Cosby and rapper Beanie Sigel, both Philadelphia natives, appeared at an anti-violence march in their home town earlier this week.

As a part of Peace Week 2007, the march was put on by Men United for a Better Philadelphia. The goal, according to the Philadelphia Daily News , was to keep the murder rate below 400.

“Here is a young man from the streets who came back to the streets as a
man,”
said Cosby of Sigel. “This is what we want from our
young boys, to go from boys to men.”

“I come from these things, the streets,” said Sigel to the crowd gathered
in the yard at M. Hall Stanton School, on 16th Street near Huntingdon.
“I’m at a time in my life where I’m trying to make the transition from
something negative to something positive.”

This isn’t Beans’ first foray into anti-violence, as the rapper has been seen on public service announcements decrying the violence in the city.
