According to the websites eurweb.com and blackfilm.com, Cuba Gooding Jr. will head a quintet of actors set to play in the Juice Crew biopic The Vapors. Gooding will assume the role of Juice Crew founder and producer Marley Marl, while David Banner will portray Biz Markie. Idris Elba, who is widely remembered as Russell “Stringer” Bell from HBO’s The Wire, will play Tyrone “Fly Ty” Williams. Meanwhile, Evan Ross and Jackie Long, both of whom had starring roles in Chris Robinson’s 2006 feature film ATL, will play MC Shan and Big Daddy Kane respectively.

As HipHopDX reported earlier (click HERE if you missed it), KeKe Palmer and Clifton Powell will play the roles of Roxanne Shante and DJ Mr. Magic. Filming is still scheduled to begin in January of 2008, with Furqaan Clover directing and Marley Marl, Roxanne Shante and Big Daddy Kane splitting production duties with Indieflimx.com. No news has emerged on who will portray other members such as Masta Ace, Kool G. Rap, Craig G. or Tragedy Kadafi, but HipHopDX will provide updates as they are made available.
