Although Diddy’s “Vote Or Die” campaign didn’t get it done (depending on who you ask), hip hop continues to remain involved in the election process. Rapper Common is now featured in one of a series of celebrity public service announcements to Get-Out-the-Vote for presidential hopeful Barack Obama. The videos are funded by the Vote Hope organization.

The 60-second public service announcement features Common letting people know that he’ll be voting for Obama.“I’m voting for Obama because he’s just there to do some good in the world,” he says in the video, as he urges others to do the same.

Viewers of the video are encouraged to pledge their vote on the VoteHope2008.org, as well as leave their own online video response stating why they’re voting for Obama.

The overall goal of the videos is to get hundreds of thousands of early votes pledged for Obama in preparation for California’s primary on Feb. 5, 2008. “Increasing voter turnout among young people and communities of color in California will be critical to Obama’s success,” said Vote Hope founder Steve Phillips.
