As previously reported, the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts was a site of vandalism on October 20, when a noose was hung around a statue of Tupac himself. Up until now, no one had been charged with the crime.

That all changed on Thursday (Nov. 1) when 43-year-old Kenneth Anthony Wilson, a African-American, was charged with felony second degree criminal damage to property.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Wilson is a resident of Dekalb, GA. Police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said that investigators have no reason to believe that it was a hate crime.

Parish also clarified that the actual object hung on the statue was a cross on a string. According to police, underwear was also placed on the head of the statue, in addition to defamatory stickers and papers.

Wilson is being held under a $1500 bond.
