George Rush and Joanna Molloy of the New York Daily News report that 50 Cent has big plans for New Year’s Eve. The two gossip hounds stated that 50’s manager Chris Lighty, CEO of Brand Asset Group and Violator Management, is working with city officials to do an outdoor performance right before the stroke of midnight on Dec. 31.

In an effort to curb the rampant bootlegging of American Gangster, RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan urged fans to head to the movies. During an appearance on Chicago’s Power 92RZA said that while he understands piracy is “a part of how the ‘hood operates,” it is still crucial for fans to support the film’s official theatrical release.

“Universal spent over $100 million on this movie–a black man’s story,” said RZA. “We gotta support it, because if not, they ain’t gonna spend that money next time on it. So we’ve gotta support it so we can keep their corporations doing what they do for us and we do what we do for them.”

Finally, Snoop Dogg apparently still has love for the United Kingdom, despite being banned from the region after his 2006 arrest for an altercation on a British Airways jet.

“I love my fans in the U.K., and they’re really suffering by not letting me deal with the gang situation,” said Snoop to the San Francisco Gate. “I really wanted to be a voice to stop gang members, ’cause they respect me enough to get into a room with me.”

The BBC reports that a rash of gang activity, including an elaborate bank card fraud scheme, has accounted for over £30m (roughly $62 million, U.S.) of damages in 2007. Snoop has made numerous references to his affiliation with the Crips street gang in songs such as “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” “Crip Hop” and “10 Lil’ Crips”.
