After releasing his third solo album last year, Mos Def fulfilled his contract with Geffen Records. The Brooklyn emcee was signed to Geffen after Rawkus Records was eventually swallowed up by the major, Mos released both The New Danger and Tru3 Magic with them. The latter of which, came under pretty bizarre circumstances.

Nevertheless, Mos has been a free agent for all of 2007 and has finally inked a new deal with Downtown Recordings. The label is would be best known to most of you as the good folks who released Gnarls Barkley‘s St. Elsewhere last year.

There is no definitive plans for a new Mos Def album, only talk that he will release it in 2008.
