Eve's Album Delayed Until 2008
Eve won't be releasing her fourth album, Here I Am, until sometime in 2008. The project was originally scheduled for an August release and then pushed back to October 16. Add it to the list of things that haven't particularly gone Eve's way in 2007. After turning heads with the announcement that the album would originally be released on Dr. Dre's Aftermath label, Eve moved to Geffen, fueling rumors that she had creative differences with Dre over the direction of the album.
During a recent interview with XXL, Eve was quoted as saying, “I’m definitely rolling the dice with this album, because it’s different. Dre hated it. He was like, ‘We need to throw some mud on it.’ He played me distinctive Dre joints, and I turned them down, because I was like, ‘I’m not 50. I’m not Game.’ That’s his shit, and I love it, but it’s not something that I wanted to do."
This summer also found the rapper in the courtroom, facing DUI charges when she swerved off the road and struck a median in her gold Maserati on April 26. Having put her legal woes aside, Eve was enjoying moderate success with her lead single "Tambourine," which peaked at number 17 on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Spokespeople from Eve's camp have given no reason for the additional delay of the album.
