Fox Holds Open Auditions For Notorious B.I.G. Biopic
"As it relates to the individual Christopher Wallace--his looks, his stature, what he represented, the swagger, the sensibility of the man--all those elements are very difficult to find, no matter where you go," Barrow told the Associated Press. Forest Whitaker was considered for the role, but at 46 his age was toop much of an issue.
While "Training Day" and "Tears of the Sun" director Antoine Fuqua was originally reported to direct the film, the Associated Press reports that it will now be directed by George Tillman, whose previous work includes "Soul Food" and "Men of Honor." Noted journalist and B.I.G. biographer Cheo Hodari Coker co-wrote the script along with Reggie Rock Bythewood. The latter has writing credits which include 2003's "Biker Boyz" and 1996's "Get on the Bus". "Notorious" will be co-produced by Wallace's mother Voletta Wallace, along with his two former managers Barrow and Mark Pitts.
Production is expected to begin this fall, and all video submissions can be submitted online via www.foxsearchlight.com/notorious or www.biggiecasting.com.
