Nick Cannon and a host of other tastemakers and corporate sponsors will head to UCLA’s Campus this weekend to lend their support to 1600 Avenue, an L.A. based non-profit organization.

1600 Avenue
was founded by Frank Satterwhite to “provide IT consulting services to generate revenue to support community programs and training for at-risk youth, young adults and urban communities.” The company’s flagship event is the annual Hip-Hop Leaders Conference, which will be held from August 8-12.

Sponsors of this year’s Hip-Hop Leaders Conference include Microsoft’s Zune, Toyota Scion, Red Bull, New Era, Galpin Auto Sports (of MTV’s Pimp My Ride),
Scratch Academy and others. This year’s edition of the conference will
feature direct interaction with DJ’s, radio personalities, business
managers, accountants, IT professionals, lawyers and more. The HHLC is
one of many programs used by 1600 Avenue to help provide curriculum and motivation for
youth at or below the federal poverty level who wish to attend colleges
and other institutions of higher learning.

The event will also help launch Cannon’s“Stop Hating” Hip-Hop tolerance initiative. In a prepared statement Cannon said, “We are working together because both organizations are committed to uplifting youth, and bringing the global Hip-Hop community together, we must put an end to hate.”
