"Being able to be so free with no expectations ... the results surpass whatever I could imagine," she told Billboard recently. "I am thankful and blessed at how this music is coming out," she added.
She's been working with others to create this album. Harold Lilly Jr, Kerry "Krucial" Brothers and Mark Batson are a few of the folks she's been working with. Noted songwriter Linda Perry contributed about three songs for the album. One of those songs, "The Thing About Love", is the first single off the album. Keys let fans hear the song during her performance at Live Earth.
Some may think Perry and Keys are an odd pairing but Keys offered up how she sees it.
"My roots are soul, hip-hop and jazz. She's rock but soulful as well...Together we're talking worldwide domination."
Her new album, As I Am, is scheduled to be released October 23. The album is also said to feature John Mayer and Marsha Ambrosius of Floetry.
Beyonc made a surprise visit to an emergency room Sunday after her St. Louis show after two people were injured at her concert. Pyrotechnics reportedly spilled over into the front row, according to The Associated Press. Darryl Williams, head nurse at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital, told AP that Beyonc, who met with the victims for just under an hour, "was just very concerned about the people injured in the audience. [Her visit] was unannounced and we kept it very low-key so that she could spend time with them." A spokesperson for the hospital stated that the injuries were minor and both victims were expected to make full recoveries.
Hot 97's loudmouthed radio personality, Miss Jones, is releasing a book titled "Have You Met Miss Jones? The Life and Loves of Radio's Most Controversial Diva (Ballantine)." The book seems to be highly controversial (much like the woman herself) and one excerpt in particular is eyebrow raising to say the least. Jones reveals her sexual escapades with none other than Busta Rhymes. In the book she recounts...
"Busta's lovemaking was not for the timid or faint of heart," Jones says. "The fact that our lovemaking never lasted too long didn't bother me, because I didn't enjoy his drops of sweat raining down on me." She also compliments Busta's "package" and implies that the relationship was only for sex. She didn't fail to mention his selfishness though, "Busta would stroll around the apartment butt-naked, then shower and go into the kitchen and fry an egg sandwich - for himself. I guess I should be grateful. It's not like he didn't offer me a bite."
Jones reportedly also has some words about Jay-Z and Beyonce. Check for the book soon.
