Artists Speak on BK Hip-Hop Festival
Not to be clich, but Hip-Hop is still alive its still here, and thats what the festival shows, said Von Pea of Tanya Morgan, excited to be sharing the stage with some of the same vets her grew up listening to.
Not only is the festival a good look for new artists, a few of the veterans feel that the show will bridge gaps necessary to preserve the culture. Weve been doing this for years and weve got different versions of Hip-Hop out right now, but Im bringing the original recipe, the original Hip-Hop flava," said Large Professor, who is making himself remain relevant with future mixtapes and upcoming projects with Styles P and Cormega.
For those who dont know the Extra P, hes planning to change that,When they [people who dont know who I am] see me perform, theyre going to say, Now I know what real Hip-Hop is, Hip-Hop was definitely in the house.
While people can look forward to Large Pro backing his statement up, its also all about the fun. Were just going to come out and have a good time. Nobody parties like New York," said Consequence, whose video Uncle Raheim, debuts on Okayplayer.com in early June. Its a New York event; New York Hip-Hop; its just something that the city needs to kick the summer off right.
The Brooklyn Hip-Hop festival has done so well that it has expanded to five days worth of events, ending with the free concert on the final night. Go to www.brooklynbodega.com, for more information on how get tickets.
