Just when you thought awards show season was over, along comes the list of nominees for the 29th annual American Music Awards. Well, you were wrong anyway, awards show season is never over!

The show will take place Wednesday, January 9th, 2002, in Los Angeles, and will be hosted by none other than P. Diddy. Diddy and singer/songwriter Jewel announced the nominees for the awards this week. The AMAs nominate only three artists per category, unlike most shows that nominate four or five. In the category of favourite rap/hip-hop artist, the nominees were Nelly, Ja Rule, and Shaggy.

Performers have not yet been selected, but will be announced in the near future. The winners are chosen by a random sampling of 20,000 American music listeners. The nominees were selected by a panel of music writers and publishers.
