Ludacris and Kanye West will headline (with Rihanna, John Mayer, Akon and Alicia Keys taking stage as well) the U.S. leg of the Live Earth Concert tour on July 7th.

Founded by Kevin Wall (backed by Al Gore), the event was launched in hopes of raising the awareness about climate control and the battle against global warming.

Starting the concert off in Sydney, Australia; Live Earth will also continue on through Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach; United Kingdom’s Wembleey Stadium; Tokyo’s Tokyo Stadium, Johannesburg’s Cradle of Human Kind; Shanghai TBA; ending at Giants Stadium in New Jersey. A 24 hour event that spans all seven continents!

“Live Earth will be a monumental event both in terms of entertainment and in turning the tide against global warming,” Wall said.
