Eminem Asked To Testify In Ireland
Reported By Slava Kuperstein
After his abrupt cancellation of the European portion of 2005s Anger Management tour, concert promoters MCD are reportedly seeking $2 million in compensation from Eminem. The suit stems from three London-based insurance companies that refused to pay due to the cancellation of the concert.
The concert was slated to occur at Slane Castle on September 17, 2005, when Em pulled out with complaints of exhaustion. The 80,000 tickets to the show had previously sold out within an hour. It was reported later that the Detroit MC had become addicted to sleeping pills, and had entered rehab.
Eminem, born Marshall Mathers III, has reportedly asked to privately give his testimony due to the nature of his health at the time. According to ABC News, Justice Peter Kelly refused the request, saying it would be inappropriate. In addition, Judge Kelly maintained that the constitution required that the proceedings take place in public.
According to Kelly, Ems testimony was possibly crucial in settling this dispute.
