T.I. Gets Nominated For 8 BET Hip Hop Awards
T.I., Busta Rhymes and Chamillionaire head the field of nominees for the inaugural BET Hip-Hop Awards, which will be held in Atlanta's Fox Theater on November 12th and aired on November 15th, in case there are any Source Award like activiies.
Williams, Ludacris, Jermaine Dupri and Young Jeezy were there in the hometown of the ATL, Thursday to announce the nominees during a press conference at the Metropolitan Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.
The awards span 14 seperate categories, including beat production, lyricism, dance, film/visual art and four special awards for--- producer of the year, lyricist of the year, hip-hop dance of the year and director of the year.
T.I. was nominated for eight awards, including video of the year and hip-hop track of the year, while Busta and Chamilitary Man banged out six and five noms. respectively. Yung Joc and Lupe Fiasco conspiciously picked up four.
Other contenders include: Kanye West, Lil' Wayne and Young Jeezy with three, Rick Ross, Nelly and Cham with two. The show will feature performances from Snoop, Ludacris, T.I, Young Dro and Young Jeezy with more to be announced.
Best hip-hop movie will be heavily contended in by T.I for ATL, 50 Cent's Get Rich or Die Tryin, Tyrese and Game's Waist Deep, while the UK will be represented with an award going to the best hip-hop artists, nominees include Dizzee Rascal, Sway, Plan B, Kano, Blak and Twang.
"This show is very much about where hip-hop culture is right now," Stephen Hill, executive VP of entertainment, music programming and talent for BET Networks told Billboard. "But we will honor the original four elements of hip-hop and show their connection to today's beats, rhymes and life."
