Andre 3000 Addresses OutKast

Breakup Rumor, Oprah

Last month, we reported that Fox News and other sites had inside sources that claimed OutKast was beefing. The rumors were flying. After all, the crew recorded their songs separately, did not plan on touring together and it seemed to be rocky. But Andre 3000 has come through to clear those rumors and put them to rest.

"N---as hit me in the street like, 'Yeah man, I heard the bad news. Sorry to hear about that,' “Andre told MTV about the rumors.”I'm like 'Man, what are you talking about?' Everything is still tight, most definitely."

But it was hard not to believe the two were beefing when they even had separate videos for their Idlewild soundtrack. He cleared that up as well.

"Really, we were supposed to shoot the 'Mighty O' video, but we were shuffling around with too many treatments and it got too late," he continued. "The record company and film company felt that it was probably better off to help sell the movie to go with these songs ["Idlewild Blue" and "Morris Brown."]. But originally we were supposed to come out with just one single."

One of the main rumors was due to OutKast not being on Oprah. As we stated last month, Fox News, along with other publications, claimed to have inside sources which said Outkast couldn't agree on whether or not to attend Oprah's show. The reports went on to indicate that Big Boi agreed, but Andre 3000 did not. Well, Andre wasn't pleased with that bit of rumor, so he cleared the air on that as well.

"We went to Oprah because we were pumping this 'Idlewild' film and soundtrack. They sent her a copy of the movie. But the [film's] release dates kept being pushed back and Oprah's show is dormant during the summertime, so there was no chance for us to do it. Next thing we see on the Internet is, 'Outkast turns down Oprah.' They make it seem like we're jumping on the bandwagon with 50 Cent and Ludacris and some people boycotting, which is totally not the case," he added.

Although he won't say whether or not the next OutKast album will have them recording together again, Andre did say everything was tight within the group as he put break up rumors to rest. Andre also went on to say he will most likely be alongside Big Boi for their next single/video.
