Cassidy Speaks on His Future
The Philly rapper continued: I too share the important message stated in court by Des dad, who urged all parents to love their children, and to be there for them. As the father or a young child myself, spending much time on the road and in the studio, away from home, I am relieved that I will soon be home for my family and my career.
While Cassidy will continue to serve the rest of his jail term, he can look forward to a release within the next two to three months. The rapper will then head back into the studio with Swizz Beatz, CEO of Full Surface Records, to record his third LP.
Id like to first thank radio and all of his fans for their love and support during this time, and let everyone know that when Cassidy gets out, do not expect us to promote this situation as a cocky and violent situation, but as a blessed situation, Swizz Beatz said.
Cass will continue to make great music, but in a positive way, educating the youth that violence is never the answer. Well do the rest of the talking with the music.
Cassidy was sentenced to 23 months in prison after being found guilty of manslaughter and assault last month, following the April 15 incident, in which 22-year-old Desmond Hawkins was killed. However, as he has already been behind bars since June 2005, Cassidy is expected to be released in the first half of this year.
In the meantime, the rappers label, Full Surface/ J Records, is set to drop the single Cassidy (The Anthem) February 28. The previously recorded song was not featured on Cassidys sophomore LP, Im A Hustla.
