RZA from the world famous Wu–Tang Clan has been bit by the acting bug.

RZA will make his feature film debut in Derailed. The movie opens this month and also stars Jennifer Anniston, Clive Owens and Xzibit. RZA has also made cameo appearances in movies Ghostdog and Scary Movie.

When most rappers try their hand at acting, they receive a lot of flack. However, this wasn’t the case for the Wu’s headmaster.

“I took acting classes and got an acting coach that schooled me. I read books on how they do the things they do. This is the first time that I’m playing a serious role. This proves if I can act or not. And from what I’m hearin’ everybody’s sayin’ that RZA did well,”he says of his latest role.

The film is a psychological thriller that has already received good reviews from several movie critics. “Winston is my character. He’s a mailroom clerk that befriends Clive Owen’s character. My character has an important role, he’s actually the person who is a friend of this guy and he’s greedy for money, so he gets involved in this triangle and gets into a dangerous situation. This is a mystery movie,” RZA said of his role in the film

RZA doesn’t plan to stop at acting though, he talks of other film projects that are in the works. “As far as the film world and getting back in front of that camera again, I recently finished writing my first movie script which will go into production in February. It’s called The Man with the Iron Fist.”

Keep your eyes locked on Hollywood for RZA’s upcoming work on the silver screen.
