Busta Rhymes attended George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School in downtown Brooklyn, New York, alongside Jay Z and The Notorious B.I.G.

During a recent visit to Fuse’s Skee TV show, Busta shared a story of a memorable battle with Jay Z.

Since Big “wasn’t in to rhyming in school” Busta battled Jay Z, who he says had already “finessed the speed rapping phenomenally at that time.”

“I was new at the speed-rapping,” Busta says in a preview clip of his full interview on Skee TV. “Losing that battle to Jay and speed rapping at that time, is what made me one of the most dangerous speed rappers of today.

“Jay know he can’t see me in speed rapping today,” he continues, holding back laughter.

Busta believes if it wasn’t for that loss to Jay Z in high school in the lunch room, he may never have become as talented as he is today at speed-rapping.

“[Jay Z] inspired my desire to want to master it because under the circumstances of how I took the ‘L,'” he says. “The few people that saw it was the right people that I did not want to see it. So, being that they saw it, I always felt like I needed to sharpen my blade in case that rematch came back, but that moment never came.”
