Wale spoke to students at Baltimore’s Frederick Douglass High School today (April 29) regarding the social unrest in the city sparked in part due to Freddie Gray’s death.

“We need each other,” Wale says in a video posted on Instagram. “We need our community leaders to come step forward and we need these kids to understand that there’s somebody that believes in them.”

“It’s all about initiative,” he continues. “Extracurricular activities, those things don’t have to be funded by the school, especially when you just sharing ideas. Ideas free. You can go outside and be like, ‘Man yo, let’s meet up at the wop wop.'”
