It’s rare when Snoop Dogg has someone in the studio just as famous as him. Recently, the Doggfather called up Stevie Wonder to appear on “California Rolls” on his forthcoming album, Bush. During a studio session, Snoop explained how he was able to get the legendary musician on the track.

“This shit would be dope if we put Stevie Wonder on there, and then Pharrell was like, ‘You think you can get it?’ I’m like, ‘Hell yeah I can get it,’ he described via audio recorded by DX Daily. “They got him right on the phone and I was like, ‘Unc, what’s happenin?’ I’m with Pharrell, we in the studio, we got a record for you. He was like, ‘Pharrell?’ I’m like, ‘We got one, nigga, me, you and P. It’s so motherfucking magical right now. Could you just come play the harmonica on it?’ He was like, ‘I’ll be there.'”

Snoop Dogg then described what went down in the session.

Snoop went on to describe how he was able to get Stevie’s vocals on the track as well.
