One service the Tidal music streaming app provides to its users is access to exclusive songs, but according to Billboard.com, these Tidal exclusives could harm an artist’s standing on the Billboard Hot 100 and other charts.

The website recently offered a theoretical example of how an artist’s record could be affected if it were streamed exclusively on Tidal.

“…Nicki Minaj’s ‘Truffle Butter’ would have dropped from No. 15 to No. 19 on the April 11th Hot 100 chart, according to a Billboard analysis,” Billboard.com reports. “Beyonce’s ‘7/11’ would have lost eight places, going from No. 44 to No. 52; Drake’s ‘Know Yourself’ would have suffered more precipitously, descending from No. 57 to straight off the Hot 100; and Kanye West’s ‘All Day’ would drop from No. 62 to No. 84.”

Billboard.com adds that its theoretical chart positions take into consideration the assumption that streams of the Tidal exclusive tracks on other on-demand audio services would drop 95 percent.

Tidal was re-launched by Jay Z weeks ago after he purchased the Swedish streaming company, Aspiro for $56 million. The rapper-turned-businessman recently spoke on his goals for Tidal during an appearance at New York University earlier this month.

“We don’t have to be number one, we just want to be very specific and very great at what we do,” Jay Z said while speaking to students. “We want people to come to Tidal for a specific sound, a specific experience, and to know that there are going to be the greatest new artists in the world, the biggest artists, introducing the newest artists, collaborations and things you’ve never seen before. That’s what we’re going to do.”
