Kendrick Lamar spent time with fans in Compton yesterday (March 21) where he hosted an album signing for his new album, To Pimp A Butterfly.

According to ABC7, more than 2,000 fans showed up at the Best Buy in Compton to meet the TDE rapper.

“It feels good to be back in my city, to go out here and see these kids still motivated by my music and by my dreams and aspirations,” Lamar told ABC.

“I wanna say thank you,” he added. “Thank you for believing in me since day one. I’ve been doing my thing on the underground scene for years, you know, proud to be putting out any albums. These the same people that have been rocking with me so I want to say thank you for believing in me and I believe in you the same, so as long as we believe in each other, I will continue to do this music.”

Kendrick Lamar released To Pimp A Butterflyto critical acclaim earlier than planned last week. Several days later, news broke that Lamar had established a new single-day Spotify streaming record after the album was listened to more than 9.6 million times on the day of its release.
