Drake has come a long way in just six years.

Just three months after releasing his critically acclaimed mixtape, So Far Gone, in 2009, Drizzy returned to his hometown of Toronto for a sold-out show at the Sound Academy.

The concert and several other moments leading up to his record deal with Young Money (via Cash Money/Universal) were captured on camera. Though the footage was previously believed to have been lost or destroyed, it was recently found.

Three-studio albums and one surprise mixtape later, Drake and his team have enhanced the footage and will be releasing it in select movie theaters across the country.

For one night only, fans will be able to watch the film, Drake’s Homecoming: The Lost Footage.

The flick features numerous unseen interviews with Bun B, Rap-a-Lot Records CEO James Prince and his son Jas Prince, who introduced Drake to Lil Wayne.

Prince – the CEO of Young Empire Music Group – says it was Drake’s skills and music that initially attracted him to the then-upstart Toronto native.

“When I first listened to Drake I had no idea he was on a hit show, I just fell in love with his sound and talent – it was unique and like nothing I had ever heard before,” Prince explains via press release. “I told him during our first conversation I would make him a star. This film documents the beginning of that journey.”

According to the release, there will be a coinciding soundtrack featuring several So Far Gone songs such as  “Best I Ever Had,” “Successful,” “Uptown,” and “Ignorant Shit.”
