Two years ago, Kendrick Lamar enlisted funnyman Mike Epps for the music video to his good kid, m.A.A.d city track “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe.”
The visual currently has over 35 million views on Youtube.
Epps’ comedic cameo was a result of his relationship with TDE founder Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith and his respect for Kendrick as a lyricist.

In a new interview with Montreality, Epps comments on Kendrick’s skills and likens the young rapper to another West Coast legend.
“Kendrick, he’s a good kid,” Epps says during the interview. “Me and Top Dawg is real good friends. Whenever they do something that’s artsy that fits what I do, they invite me down there.”
Within the “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” visual – which was directed by The Lil Homie and OG Mike Mihail – Epps provides the comic relief for an otherwise serious video.

“I think he’s a great lyricist,” Epps says. “The dude is really ahead of his time. Some of the words that he puts together is really of our day and he really represents this generation.”
The parallels between Kendrick and Tupac Shakur are similar to Epps.
“He reminds me a lot of Pac,” Epps says. “The way he puts together his lyrics, how he speaks about real life, and it’s gang related… street.”
