Wu-Tang ClanĀ is one of the most storied groups in Hip Hop history so whenever a new-comer, especially one that isnāt from New York and doesnāt typically have as intricate a rhyming style as the Wu, decides to name a song after one of the Clanās, it becomes controversial.
Thatās exactly what Drake did when he titled a song off of his last solo studio album, Nothing Was The Same, with āWu-Tang Forever.ā Even the Clan was split about how to react to what the Toronto native did.
Recently, before a recent show in Toronto, Ghostface Killah, a long-known supporter of Drake, spoke to members of the Canadian press about the OVO boss.
āDrake is brilliant,ā Ghost told members of the press after being asked about the Canadian emcee.Ā āI donāt look at Drake like these other little rhyme guys nowadays, because I think he can really spit a rhyme. So I put him in a different category.ā
The Staten Island emcee and Wu member also came to Drakeās defense when it comes to lyricism as many criticized him when he initially dropped the Wu-Tang-referencing track.
āA lot of people might try to play him out ā¦ but Iām a lyricist, so once my antennas go up and I hear somebody who sounds really nice on the beat and got a lot of fans and stuff like that ā¦ I keep listening to him,ā Ghost explained according to Yahoo Music Canada. āHeās just one who caught my ear. Heās really, really doing his thing. I canāt (dump) on him. Nothing bad I can really say about him.ā
