A new interactive computer game is bringing beat-making straight to your fingertips.
With “Sample Stitch,” users get to recreate a portion of three different soul-sample beats: Kanye West’s “Otis,” J Dilla’s “Don’t Cry” and 9th Wonder’s “Impressknowsoul.”
Matt Daniels, the coder behind “Sample Stitch,” also designed the “Largest Vocabulary In Hip Hop” chart. He created the virtual beat machine to show fans the complexity of chopping up a sample.

“I’ve been re-constructing hip hop songs from their original samples, and every time I’ve been fascinated by the producer’s choices,” he wrote via the site. “I wish that more people understood this process and gift, so I’ve re-created the process of chopping up a sample, just as a producer would.”
By pressing down on different letters on the keyboard, users can reproduce classic Hip Hop tunes, one note at a time.
There are also features that allow you to record your creation and share it via Facebook or Twitter.
